Man found dead in drain

The man is of African decent and police believe he was in his mid-thirties. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt.

The body was discovered in a drain at George Street, Sangre Grande by a man who was awaiting transport to his workplace in Guaico.

The police was informed and officers from the Eastern Division Task Force and Sangre Grande CID went to the scene on George Street.

They were later joined by Crime Scene investigator Cpl Steve Soopadale and police photographer Cpl Pamela Presad.

District Medical Officer Dr Cindy Bagaloo viewed the body and ordered its removal to Sangre Grande Mortuary. A post mortem is expected to be conducted at the Forensic Science Centre at St James. Police believe the man may have been drunk, sat on the culvert and fell over into the six-foot deep drain, where he succumbed to his injuries. Cpl Harper of Sangre Grande CID is continuing inquiries.

Police are calling on the public to assist in indentifying the body. Anyone with information can call 668-2444.
