Canadian firms ready to help local businesses

They are also willing to share locally, the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in their operations with local businesses, and commercial entities.

CSR involves integrating the social, environmental and economic concerns of societies within which companies operate.

The offers were made Wednesday in addresses by Canada’s Governor General David Johnston, president of the Canada Chamber of Commerce Perrin Beaty, and Minister of State, Foreign Affairs Diane Ablonczy at a luncheon at Hyatt Regency, Port-of-Spain in which Johnston and his delegation met with members of the local business community.

During the luncheon, Ablonczy released the publication entitled “Canadian Corporate Social Responsibility - Canadian Companies in Action, Trinidad and Tobago”.

The publication, compiled by the Canadian High Commission in TT, presents an overview of Canadian companies’ experiences in implementing CSR in the local communities.
