Student dies in accident

Police said, at 1 am, Kerron Brown was driving a Nissan B14 car along Manahambre Road, Jordan Hill Village in Princes Town when Brown, of Petit Caf? in Princes Town, swerved left to avoid a head on collision with another vehicle proceeding in the opposite direction.

However, his car veered off the roadway and plunged down a 25 foot-deep precipice. Brown, Garcia and the other occupants — Nadia Mahabir, 26, Greg Perez, 22, Matthew Barclay, 27, and Derek Perez, 26 — sustained multiple injuries.

They were rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where they were treated and warded. The Princes Town Police Station was contacted and Cpl Sookdeo and other officers visited the scene.

Garcia was transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital but succumbed to head injuries a few hours later. According to a relative of one of the injured victims, who requested anonymity, the victims were heading to their respective homes after an outing in San Fernando.

After the accident took place, the driver of the other car which caused Brown to swerve, continued on his way. Cpl Sookdeo is continuing investigations.
