Khan wins TT squash crown
Khan showed class and outplayed Faith Gillezeau 3-0 in the somewhat one-sided final. In the opening set Khan produced an impressive 11-2 thrashing. Gillezeau showed some resistance in the second set but still fell 11-9 victim to Khan. The multiple national champion then sealed her 18th national crown with a dominant 11-3 display in the final set.
Up to press time last night, Colin Ramasra was also preparing to bag his seventh senior national title. He was scheduled to face youngster Mandela Patrick in the finals of Men’s Singles. This was Patrick’s first time in a senior final, having only recently entered the senior division competitive rankings.
In the Men’s Singles third place playoff, Julian Chin emerged the victor over the younger Patrick brother, Nkrumah. Chen fought valiantly to hold off a persistent Patrick 12-10, 6-11, 11-9, 11-4 to claim bronze.
Additionally, Nikita Poon Kong snatched bronze in the Women’s division when she overcame Talia Abdool 3-0.
