Mixed opening day for TT Junior golfers at Doral Publix
The Doral Publix Junior Championships is considered the largest in the world, with over 580 participants from all over the globe, and is being played at the Trump National Doral in Miami.
The TT five are Liam Bryden, Dinesh Jackree, Ryan Peters, Ysabelle Lawrence and Serena Mackenzie.
Liam Bryden, competing in the Boys 16-18 division, led the way, shooting a 79 on the Doral Blue Monster to lie in 18th place.
Dinesh Jackree, also in the 16- 18 division, did not fare so well, shooting an 88 to tie for 91st position.
Ysabelle Lawrence, competing in the Girls 16-18 division on the Red Tiger course, was in 30th place after shooting an 84; she was hoping to improve her short putting over the next 3 rounds to move up the leader board.
Ryan Peters, competing in the Boys 14-15 group, struggled in the windy conditions on the Doral Gold, shooting an 88 to finish in 59th position, while Serena Mackenzie, competing in the Girls 14 -15 category, shot a fighting 87 to lie in 27th position after day one.
A release from the TT Golf Association said the TT juniors all felt that they had left a lot of shots out on the course, and strongly believed that they would do a lot better in the remaining rounds
