Rise in alcohol prices does not faze drinkers

Despite the increase in prices, patrons viewed the products as still being “affordable” noting that they were luxury items.

When Newsday visited another liming spot, an announcement was heard over the public announcement system that encouraged patrons at the bar to drink as much as they could before the price increase took effect. Bar patrons believed that the increase in prices may encourage persons to reduce their consumption of alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.
