National schools scrabble reaches finals
Action shifts to Bishop’s High School for the Tobago Zone today and the East Zone event will take place at Bon Air Secondary School, Arouca.
Finals and prize-giving ceremony will be held on November 6 at Port-of-Spain City Hall, Port-of-Spain.
The Trinidad and Tobago Scrabble Association is asking all parents, teachers and guardians to come out and support the young players.
Omari Blake of St Mary’s College topped the North Zone Junior division with five impressive wins and a Points Difference (PD) of 1377 to progress to the final.
Fatima’s Christopher Wanliss had four wins with a PD of 309 and will also feature in the finale.
Mucurapo East Secondary’s Robledo Amaroso was third with four wins as well but a PD of 189.
In the Senior Division, Brendon Hatch of Fatima College registered five wins to take first place with a PD of 616. St Mary’s College student Mikyle Molchan was the runner-up with four wins (PD 332) while Cheriez Lucas of Bishop Anstey High School was third with four wins and a 327 PD.
In the South, Myles Matthew of Pt Fortin East emerged winner of the Juniors category with five wins and a 417 PD. Shaun Bhimlal of Presentation College came in second with four wins and PD of 410 while ASJA Girls’ Khesley Ramsumair had four wins and a PD of 371 as she placed third.
Among the Seniors’, St Joseph Convent’s Sasha Ramkhelawan topped the division with five wins and a 296 PD. Simone Munroe of Point Fortin East was flawless as well with five wins but a 219 PD while Sana Omardeen of ASJA Girls was third with four wins and a 401 PD.
