Naps, Fatima into Intercol T20 semis

Naparima defeated Shiva Boys by six wickets at the Powergen ground in Penal. Chasing 111, Naps reached 112 for four in 18 overs, with Clevon Kalawan scoring an unbeaten 37 and Shatrughan Rambaran getting 28. Earlier, Shiva Boys had posted 110 for eight, with Ryan Udit playing a hand of 39 and Samuel Roopnarine scoring 26. Naps’ trio of Justyn Gangoo (2/8), Gabriel Maharaj (2/18) and Dominic Nandlal (2/22) all restricted the Shiva Boys strike rate. At the Pierre Road Recreation ground, Fatima made short work of Manzanilla. Fatima amassed 171 for eight. Jonathon Hirst struck 44 and Sean Persaud got 21; Rondell Barnwell was Manzanilla’s best bowler, taking two for 38.

Donovan Clayton then produced figures of five for 12 with the ball as Manzanilla were dismissed for 84. Fatima won by 87 runs.

The semi-finals will be played on Thursday and Friday at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain.

At 2pm, San Juan North Secondary will face Penal Secondary in a Senior Division semi-final, and at 6pm, Naparima will clash with Barrackpore West Secondary in the first of the Premiership semis.

On Friday, St Benedicts College will meet Tabaquite Secondary at 2pm in the other Senior Division semi-final, and at 6pm, Fatima will take on Trinity East in the second Premiership semi-final.
