Meet Manning’s QC

EMINENT British Queen’s Counsel Mark Strachan will be in Prime Minister Patrick Manning’s corner when the judicial review case resumes on April 28. Strachan, was born on September 25, 1946. He was called to the Bar of England in 1969 and made a Queen’s Counsel in 1987. He was Head of Chambers at 3 Hare Court (formerly 1 Crown Office Row) from 1995 to 2002. His main practice areas are commercial disputes (litigation and arbitrations), Privy Council appeals and major personal injury cases.


Substantial commercial cases in which he has recently been instructed include (in the Commercial Court) a multi-million pound  insurance claim in which fraud was alleged, a major breach of  warranty claim, and various actions for and against banks. He has also been instructed in a number of substantial personal injury actions, often involving brain damage. An area of specialisation is with accidents overseas in which  conflict of law issues arise. He was admitted to the Hong Kong Bar in 2002 and regularly appears in the Hong Kong courts. He undertakes arbitration work and is available to sit  as an arbitrator. In his Chambers are Sir Godfray Le Quesne QC, James Guthrie QC, and James Dingemanns, who are no strangers to the practice in Trinidad and Tobago.
