Pray for drug addicts’ families
THE EDITOR: I was in church and the Pastoral prayer was being said. The pastor said we must pray for the victims of kidnappings. That is very good, but most families pay millions of dollars and get their family member back home. My point is, who is praying for the family of the drug addict, children, wife, mother? I am the relative of an addict. He had a family. He thought he could handle the cocaine, never knowing that little dust could turn him into a ghost of a man. From a handsome, loving and caring person to a walking dead. What about the girl who was raped by several men? Who is praying for her? I am sure the mother is not a wicked person, she tried the drugs and did not have the strength to stop. We need the police to catch and hang the drug lords just like Dole Chadee. We need to educate our young people about the dangers of cocaine. As the relative of an addict it is not easy. I cannot believe my eyes when I see him. Is this the baby that was breast-fed, tall and handsome, now a zombie. He went to every rehab on the island. If I had all the money in the world it could not bring him to see his beautiful children. There is no coming back when your brain is fried. That is what cocaine is all about. It is 10.30 pm. I should be sleeping. I know I am not the only person going through this pain. When I see my relative, I don’t see a trace of the man who I knew. The light in him is no longer there. Who is praying for us? K SINGH San Fernando
