A waste of money cleaning Diego Martin River

THE EDITOR: I would like to draw to the attention of the Minister of Works and Transport the fact that there is still a large mound of dirt to be removed from the Diego Martin River. This dirt was the result of the excavator cleaning the silt trap in the river behind Victoria Gardens South.

On October 8, this river overflowed its banks causing flooding in Crystal Stream. It is over ten days since any work has been done in the river and it now appears that the contractor has abandoned the job. With the rains over the last two weekends, the mound of dirt rapidly eroded and washed back into the silt trap. This renders the whole exercise a waste of money and time and puts the entire area in danger of flooding.
