Grateful to NACTA
THE EDITOR: The public and indeed the political parties owe a great deal of gratitude to New York pollster Vishnu Bisram and the NACTA polling organisation for their hard work to keep us informed about the views of the population on major issues and their support for the political parties. I am impressed by the remarkable record of the accuracy of their findings predicting the outcome of elections. I can’t think of one occasion they have been wrong in their prediction of an election. Most recently, they accurately predicted the outcome of the UNC internal elections for executive posts — which was no easy task. No polling organisation has dared to venture into that area because of the difficulty of predicting a winner. But Bisram and NACTA have done it twice in a row having also accurately predicted the outcome of internal UNC elections in June 2001. I also recall the organisation accurately predicting the outcome of the Presidential election in 2003 and the PM’s last internal election. Instead of attacking Bisram and NACTA, politicians and the public should pay attention to their findings. NACTA’s polling data and analysis can be a guide to inform political parties about their support. BALRAM RAMSARAN Tunapuna
