Nobody cares in Sangre Grande
THE EDITOR: Sangre Grande is the most neglected town in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a place where workers do as they please as there is no supervisor and nobody cares. Throughout the Divali and Eid celebrations heaps of garbage lay piled up on the shoulders of the streets. The Sangre Grande Regional Corporation truck only cleaned a couple streets although these heaps were placed there months ago. The Foster Road Cemetery was cutlassed two months in advance of the All Saints and All Souls observation. This was too early. By the time the people went there to clean the graves of their loved ones, the cemetery was already covered with high bush. They had to abandon their mission as they could not afford to pay to clear the forest. The Corporation lacks foresight. While devotees were absorbed in prayer during this religious season, loud explosions were heard everywhere, including the cemetery. Can the officers who are paid to protect and serve say how many persons they charged for this offence in Sangre Grande? Hence the reason why the crime rate is soaring in this town.
