Good going Moko Jumbies

They are called the Constructive Termites. At around 1.20 pm on Saturday November 12, I heard a voice in the street outside my home announcing that Moko Jumbies were approaching.

As I ran outside I saw a group of teenaged Moko Jumbies approaching.

The man was announcing on a speaker that these youths were showing their patriotism to this country and the Warriors by walking from Point Fortin to San Fernando, their journey began at 5.30 that morning. Now mind you, I will get tired being driven from Point Fortin to San Fernando, much less to walk it. Some looked very tired but they kept going.

I looked at them and was touched by their gesture.

It brought tears to my eyes, my heart felt heavy with emotion.

These youths may not have been able to attend the game but they showed their support in their own unique way.

I felt so proud of them, proud of the Warriors and proud of my country. I know they will have a busy schedule, but my heartfelt wish is that the team take time out to visit San Fernando and meet with these young people who showed their support by wearing red and walking on their wooden legs from Point Fortin to San Fernando.

Big up to the members of the Constructive Termites. I applaud you all.
