Good vibes from Ria

THE EDITOR: Ever so often the words, the refrain “Sweet Trinidad” or “Sweet TnT” are echoed over the media, the airwaves by various radio presenters. Often times these radio personalities are trying to send positive messages to the national community. One such presenter I look forward to every Sunday morning is Miss Ria Roopchandsingh of Radio 94.7FM Radio Trinbago. Her positive messages are truly inspirational. So much negative comments and sentiments are echoed daily in our land by so-called intelligent persons/individuals. Their messages are usually of a condemnatory nature.

I often interact will all kinds of citizens in Trinidad and Tobago on a daily basis, and all I hear is the negative comments which prevail in our society. In the maxi-taxis, buses, groceries, the corner pub, in homes/houses every day citizens are bitterly complaining about the incumbent Government, the high rate of crime, escalating food prices, unemployment and what are we as citizens doing to change this image of Trinidad and Tobago?

The show of solidarity on November 12 at the qualifying football game at the National Stadium, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago vs Bahrain was a coming together of citizens to support the “Soca Warriors.” But what will it take for us to unite against the social ills plaguing the nation? Often times I find it difficult to utter the words “Sweet TnT” because of how I feel. I love the country of my birth dearly, I will not trade anywhere else in the world to live, but the frustrations I encounter daily, will there be end results? Ms Roopchandsingh, continue sending out the positive vibes, God knows how much we need it!
