Scientists to pray for peace

THE EDITOR: In spite of general rhetoric from the public and meetings between the government and opposition, the level of crime has not yet abated.

Many thousands of our citizens appended signatures and even marched to register anger and fear over the situation in the twin islands, and hundreds more have called in to talk shows, written letters to newspaper editors, etc.

Amidst all this, members of The First Church of Christ — Scientist are expecting to positively affect conditions through their annual thanksgiving service on Saturday this week.

"Manifesting the energy of harmony through prayer" is the theme of the service at 5.30 o’clock at their premises, 52 Richmond Street, Port-of-Spain.

A spokesperson of the church said that the most powerful weapon accessible to man is prayer. This is vividly illustrated in the life of Jesus Christ and of course supported in the writings of the founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy and so they are inviting all members of the public to attend and participate in their meeting to align their joint consciousness with divine harmony, in full understanding of God’s all good news, omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence for the nation’s well being.
