Enhance your education

THE EDITOR: Allow me to express my feelings for all Afro-Trinidadians. As a young 19-year-old Afro-Trinidadian I believe that we have no knowledge of our self or our past. Our education system teaches us nothing about our black history. We are the ones who are on the televisions almost everyday protesting about our roads and our water. Look at it for yourself people, this is so ridiculous.

It hurts me so much to see that we are killing ourselves everyday. As black people in Trinidad I think we should stand together as a nation of people to help lift ourselves out of poverty and crime. We also need to understand that there is a fault in our education system and it is not going to give us knowledge and information to rise above poverty, but to keep us at a level of ignorance. So please it is time to enhance our level of education not only in schools but out of schools also and solidify our position here as Afro-Trinidadian because we say that we are no longer slaves. If as a young person I see all these things I think you all should see them too.
