Licensing Department, a waste of time
THE EDITOR: On Friday November 25, 2001 I went to the Licensing Department at Chaguanas at 1.28 pm to renew my licence. There is a big sign on the outside saying cash closes at 3 pm. So just to make sure, I called in the morning to find out what time cash will be closing. On my entrance to the office, there was a small sign on the cashier’s window, that cash closes at 1.30 pm. Can you imagine my frustration? I have to apply a week in advance for a half-day, and these clowns closed their office early. When I told them I had called during the morning , they replied that they were told by their boss at 10 am that they would be closing at 1.30 pm. EDISON PETERS Lange Park
This department is being run like a parlour at the side of the road. How can a decision be made at 10 am to close a Government department the same afternoon early. And we call ourselves a developing country. Trinidad can never graduate to first world status. If we can’t get the simple things like this right, how on earth can we get the major things working? I must now apply for another half day off, to renew my licence. So that’s one entire day that was taken for a task that should have been done in one hour. And what about all the other people who planned to transact business at this time? If this is the case, let our weekend start at lunchtime Friday instead of Saturday. Mr Imbert, please get your act together, there is too much loss of production when bosses determine to close Government offices before time. Just note, do you think you could see a bank closing early, unannounced?
