Why is Panday so afraid?
THE EDITOR: I believe Basdeo Panday will keep the UNC in opposition as long as he stays in politics. Why is he so afraid to hand over all the power to Winston? The people who support Panday are the ones who wish to remain in opposition. What have they gotten in return? Caroni is now gone, thousands are without jobs and the land is now being used for housing development. Why didn’t Panday look after his own people? He knew Caroni was not making money, why didn’t he distribute the land to farmers and preserve the people’s livelihood. I visit Trinidad and New York very regularly and everywhere I go, people are very upset and enraged with Panday for trying to hold on to power. Panday should know that the people need to be mobilised and in order for that to happen an honest and hard working person like Dookeran with a vibrant team that he chooses will get the ball rolling.
