Partiality is a sin

THE EDITOR: It was with unprecedented zeal, the army, police and SAUTT were mobilised to rescue a certain kidnap victim. The military was in full gear with over ten platoons combing the forest. Two national security helicopters were immediately pressed into service. The police broke record in solving this kidnap case in less than a week. This case is now before the courts, another miracle. While all citizens applauded the efforts of the police and are grateful for the return of this lovely young lady, one wonders what it would take to evoke such action in the many other kidnapping cases.

Others remain in the hands of kidnappers. There are no platoons being pressed into service to find these young men, neither is SAUTT (the overpaid secret service) being invited to join the search. He has failed to creatively address crime in Trinidad. Partiality is a sin, to be partial with people is to set oneself as a judge over their life. It is to say you are better than the other person. When a political party sets itself up as a judge over a nation, they must realise that the same judgment they used is the same judgment that will be used against them. Hence, it behoves  us to use power to ensure that all citizens are treated fairly. To do otherwise is to say to God I don’t like your creation and he is the ultimate judge.
