Step down Adesh
The Editor: I was at the public meeting of the United National Congress held at the Gasparillo junction about two weeks ago. Several things struck me. Firstly, the attendance was very poor. Normally the UNC attracts a crowd at Gasparillo of 2,000 minimum. At this meeting there were about 200 people. Most of these were supporters of the political leader Winston Dookeran. The second thing is that the Member of Parliament for Tabaquite Adesh Nanan was given a shout down when he got up to talk. In an attempt to avoid hearing the boos from the people he spoke like a train travelling 500 miles per hour, and did not even stop to take a full breath. The people were saying "we do not want to hear you." The purpose of this letter then is to ask Mr Adesh Nanan to consider resigning his position as Member of Parliament for the Tabaquite Constituency and let the people go to the polls and select an MP of their choice for the next two years. There is talk in Tabaquite that Nizam Mohammed wants to be the next Member of Parliament and is mobilising people in the constituency to nominate him. If Mr Nizam Mohammed is truly interested in running for the Tabaquite constituency then I am sure he will be a better choice than the present Member of Parliament. R Mungalsingh Tabaquite
