Bollywood's big night in TT

Fifteen of India’s top stars and playback singers such as Akshay Kumar, Dino Morea, Urmila Matondkar, Karisma Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Gulshan Grover, Chunky Panday, Kunal Ganjawala, Alisha Chinoy, Sukhwinder Singh, Amir Jamal, Anooradha Sriram, Tanaz Currim will head the cast of the star-studded show.

Top TT artistes Indar Kanhai and Ravi Bissambhar will also perform at tomorrow’s spectacular Bollywood Movie Awards at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

This is the first time that a Bollywood Movie Awards presentation is being held in TT. The Bollywood Awards was instituted with the realisation that the people of Indian origin, living in North America and the Caribbean retain a warm and vibrant link with their motherland through the medium of movies and music.

Kamal Dandona, chairman of the Bollywood Group of Companies, and Anthony Maharaj, film producer/director and CEO of CL Communications have long shared common views and goals and joined forces to bring the first colossal Indo-Caribbean event outside of India.

The Bollywood Awards will be an electrifying event, and will be viewed by over 350 million viewers on television, cable, and satellite in over 80 countries.

The nominees are as follows: Best Film: Sarkar- Parag and Varun Sanghavi; Black- Anshumaan Swami; Salaam Namaste - Aditya and Yash Chopra; No Entry - Surinder Kapoor; Page 3 - Baldev and Bobby Pushkarna.

Best Director: Shaad Ali - Bunty Aur Babli; Ram Gopal Varma - Sarkar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali-Black; Nagesh Kukunoor- Iqbal; Page3 - Madhur Bhandarkar.

Best Actor: Shah Rukh Khan- Paheli; Saif Ali Khan- Parineeta. Amitabh Bachchan- Black; Anupam Kher- Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara, Akshay Kumar - Garam Masala.

Best Actress: Rani Mukerjeeb- Black; Preity Zinta- Salaam Namaste Urmila Matondkar - Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara; Priyanka Chopra - Waqt-The Race Against Time; Konkona Sen-Sharma - Page 3.

Best Supporting Actor: Naseerudin Shah - Iqbal; Sanjay Dutt - Parineeta

Ritesh Deshmukh - Kya Kool Hain Hum; Abhishek Bachchan - Sarkar; Chunky Pandey - D.
