St Augustine Girls, Arima Senior top schools scrabble

Top junior and senior players in the five preliminary zones consisting of Central, Tobago, East, Port-of-Spain and Environs and South went head to head at the finals.

St Augustine Girls’ won the Junior Category and were followed by Bishop Anstey High School East and Fatima College.

Arima Senior Comprehensive were successful in the Senior Category with Trinity College East runners-up and Presentation College, Chaguanas, third.

Davindra Harnarine of Presentation College, San Fernando copped the top junior prize with five wins and a point differential of 505. Second was Tamara John Seedial of St Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando who had four wins and a point differential of 447. Third was Christie Rampersad of St Augustine Girls’ High School with four wins and a point differential of 346.

Roland Mahabirsingh of Presentation College, Chaguanas emerged as the winner of the Senior Category with five wins and a point differential of 323.

He was followed by Shiekahadd Ali of Arima Senior Comprehensive with four wins and a point differential of 595. Conor Munro of Trinity College, East was third with four wins and a point differential of 450.

The prize giving ceremony will be held on November 18 at the Guardian Holding Limited Atrium in Westmoorings from 3 pm to 5 pm. Individual prizes, school prizes, special prizes and zonal Prizes will be handed out at the function.
