TTCB stages successful cricket camp

TTCB president Deryck Murray, in an address at a graduation ceremony at the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Development Centre, Balmain, Couva, yesterday, urged the youngsters to “continue to build and improve yourself so that tomorrow you will be better off than today.”

Camp sponsors bgTT will also sponsor camps for the Under-13, Under-17, and Under-19 cricketers to help keep the country in the forefront of Caribbean cricket for years to come.

Murray thanked bgTT for their involvement in the camp and hoped that the future would see the benefits of the training “bccause this is just the first step on your way forward.”

Murray said he would be anxiously following the career and future development of the trainees at the school that they attend, “because this is crucial in the developmental process of Trinidad and Tobago.”

He said, “Discipline, and dedication are all qualities that would help in making you and your team perform well at the highest level.

“You cannot do it alone on the cricket field. Develop good habits that would help you to understand your role and contribute positively to the team’s overall performance.”

He added, “We must understand that there is a stepping stone to progress and as such you must determine your level of commitment and by choice decide by commitment which direction you would pursue on your way forward.”

Murray said the Camp was “only scratching the surface but at some point you would be the future of Trinidad and Tobago cricket, so in moving ahead, chart the proper course.

“You are charged with that responsibility,” Murray stressed.

Gail Decle, public affairs manager of bgTT said her company was extremely pleased to arrange the personal development camp and thanked parents for their involvement in the overall training programme.

Angelique Valere Sobrian, representing Midai Consultants, said the whole nation must get involved in showing the positive direction of young people.

She said, “mental on-going training is essential to achieve toughness and consistency at a high performance level.”

And CEO of the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago Carol Charles Austin praised the TTCB for their foresight in organising the camp and said this should ensure success in the future.

Those attending the camp were: Akiel Hosein, Anthony Jawahir, Jerone Davis, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Alexis, Sachin Boodram, Kieron Joseph, Rajiv Singh, Ricardo Maikoo, Rideson Maniram, Steven Katwaroo, Teshawon Castro, Yannic Cariah, Yannick Ottley, Kiron Beinnie, and Kissoondath Magram.

Coach was Baldath Bodoe and manager William Wallace.
