Prisons officers to boycott sports day

The officers took the decision to boycott, based on the working conditions at the prisons where serious overcrowding have exposed them to danger.

Ramroop said that the decision stemmed from what he referred to as the failure by the prisons authorities to address their concerns.

He pointed out that the association’s members have undertaken an action plan to get the authorities to deal with their concerns.

Ramroop made it clear, however, that the move was not triggered by the Prisons Officers’ Association.

Prisons Commissioner John Rougier was unavailable for comment on the matter yesterday.
