BUSH MEDICINE
US has been awash in a sea of the putrid liberal values, pounded by waves of secularism, parapsychic / paranormal activities and spiritual schizophrenia. So clear-headed Americans could no longer swallow “Dr Kerry’s orthodox medicine.” They had to grab the Bush medicine survival kit! Bush medicine may sound like an “old fashion” form of medication, but nobody can deny the high respect we all hold for the amazing results which the “cough bush” or “bush tea” from grandpa or grandma brought, before we became “more civilised and scientific.” We just can’t forget the fever grass, shadow beni, datur, karapule, wonder of the world, shining bush, sweet broom, orange peel and senna. Actually, the bush medicine trade which dates back millenniums, has now graduated to a billion-dollar global industry, under the label of herbal medicine or natural medicine. As supplies strive to meet the ever-expanding demands, horticulturalists, herbalists and naturopathic practices decorate the millionaires’ row.
After decades of an aggressive, revolutionary thrust in the industry of modern or “orthodox” medicine, there is now a massive exodus reverting to “the old time way” of bush or herbal medicine. (Stuff like the disgusting current Vioxx scandal has been partly responsible for this). The rush is for the magic or miracle in ginkgo biloba, ginseng, black cohosh, cranberry chamomile, echinacea, garlic, aloe, cava cava, cayenne pepper and xango. As one looks at the dominant role which President Bush’s resolute moral values position played in deciding the results of the very critical recently concluded US presidential elections, the Bush medicine analogy comes up. Americans very decisively rejected the “modern, scientific and progressive” doses of liberalism and secular humanism, which are rooted in gross immorality and abomination (same-sex marriage, abortion etc). Instead, they have firmly opted for the “old-fashion” Bush medicine of Judeo Christian, Bible-based traditions of moral values. America has sunken deep into the abyss of moral decadence.
The downward spiral of the social and sexual mores of “civilised America” has been quite alarming, indeed frightening. The Bush medicine, therefore, came at a most critical time, to treat this malignant disease. In the past few decades the US has found itself awash in a sea of the putrid liberal values, pounded by waves of secularism, naturalism, relativity parapsychic/paranormal activities and spiritual schizophrenia. The Bible and prayer were unceremoniously ejected from public schools. As a consequence, moral absolutes, value-based education and the eternal verities of the founding fathers, which once undergirded the “greatest nation on earth,” were pelted aside as outdated myths and legends. The nontheistic philosophy of relativity ruled. Everyone seemed to ignore Einstein’s declaration: “Relativity is for physics, not ethics.” The Darwinian theory appeared to be winning the race in replacing the theistic, while slogans such as Carl Sagan’s, “The cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be,” virtually became gospel.
This was, regrettably, the predominant philosophy of American educational life. Of course, this meant a massive assault on the curriculum of technical proficiency, as well as social responsibility. The results in the schools include an abundance of drugs, sexually active teens and STD infections, teen depression, psychosomatic and mood disorders, teenage suicides and over a million guns in schools per year! That’s why clear-headed, responsible Americans could no longer swallow the “orthodox medicine” of “Dr John Kerry and Associates.” They just had to grab the Bush medicine survival kit! They realise that stooges such as the ACLU and Hollywood were only about a devious, self-serving agenda which would perhaps lead to the face of Playboy’s Hugh Hefner being on US currency, and the covers of their children’s text books.
American parents recognised that although the voice of their Born Again Christian President risked being overwhelmed by hostile contemporary challenges, somebody had to stand up to the subtle secular humanistic schemes of “great minds” and key agents of “scientific and philosophical thought” such as Protagoras (“Man is the measure of all things”), Comte (secularisation of science; British utilitarianism and deism) and Schiller and Dewey (naturalism and pragmatism). In the presence of these vultures, in an age of unprecedented scepticism and the scarcity of trustworthy intellectual and spiritual moorings, the Bush medicine came in as a definite life-saver! What else would parents and parents-to-be vote for, when school children are being told that humans are nothing but complex machines, whose personalities are determined by the interaction of chemical and physical properties?
Radical secular humanists boasted at an American Humanist Awards ceremony, “We have conquered the entire public school system for Humanism.” And what’s the doctrine of the new age, “new world order” humanists? Their tenets state in part: “Salvation appears as harmful, diverting people with false hopes of heaven hereafter... Humanism finds insufficient evidence for belief in the existence of a supernatural being... “As nontheists, we begin with humans, not God, nature not deity. Ethics is autonomous and situational, needing not theological or ideological sanction. The many vanities of sexual exploration should not in themselves be considered evil.” In the light of such anti-Christ evil, we can only shout, “Thank God for Bush medicine!” America, particularly its Born Again/Evangelical Church, has sent an extremely vital and timely message on moral and spiritual values to the world.
