Trampling on our rights
However he has fallen into the trap of thinking that the government can make people into entrepreneurs. The best thing the government can do to foster a can-do attitude is to do its job—govern. Put plainly, if the government would focus on the proper functioning of critical institutions like Town and Country Planning, the Environmental Management Authority, the Police Service and the Judiciary, people will feel more confident to take the risks that our minister talks about wistfully almost daily now.
What recourse does the average citizen have if their rights are trampled upon by another? An indifferent, under-equipped, underpaid police force? An inaccessible, intimidating and torturous judicial system where justice will soon be measured in decades? What kind of energy would someone invest in entrepreneurship when they cannot rely on our collapsed Health Services for their basic health needs?
