Lakers, Goal City battle for second best
Both teams are on 45 points each with one match left to complete their schedule.
St Clair’s Coaching School have already captured the title in the division with one game to go. They are on an unassailable 51 points at the top of the standings.
The Lakers enjoy a vastly superior goal-difference over their rivals - 39-5, but need victory in their final match to assure themselves of second place.
On Friday last, Lakers got three points the easy way when Hills United who will surely be demoted failed to turn up for their match. The Hills United team also defaulted their game to Black Rock FC on Friday, completing their schedule on just nine points from their 22 matches.
Goal City tangle with mid-table Mason Hall USSS on Thursday while Lakers have a tough final assignment against champions-designate St Clair’s Coaching School on February 1.
There is also a close battle between Lambeau and 1976 FC Phoenix for the First Division title.
Victory for Lambeau against Bethel United tomorrow will decide which way the title goes. Phoenix meet Signal Hill FC on Sunday.
