Potholes along Gaston Street

One motorist told The People’s Newspaper, “imagine this thing, traffic here is real bad at times and now these potholes making things worse. Now traffic has to slow down when they are competing with the traffic lights,” he said.

“A few days ago, I was sitting in my car right along Gaston Street in traffic when the traffic lights turned green, I had to slow down almost to a crawl to negotiate these potholes and by the time I was through, the light had turned red. I had to wait even longer,” the motorist said.

He is pleading with the relevant authorities to repair the roadway. In addition another motorist complained that on occasions the wheels of his car got damaged because of the potholes.

“We have to buy these parts that have been damaged over and over,” a motorist said. When contacted for comment, Road Officer II Faizool Ali of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation said the corporation is well aware of the pothole problem at Gaston Street.

“Rest assured, the roadway will be repaired as soon as possible,” Ali said.
