Starting over!

It is the most difficult thing to do but also the most necessary thing to do. If you do not decide to start over no one else will do it for you.

It is true, you may have been hurt so many times before and you may have been betrayed by those closest to you, but you still have to find the strength to carry on. At this point, prayer is often the only weapon of support.

You are never too old to start over, even though starting over is sometimes quite painful and there are times when you feel you can sit right down and cry your veins dry. There are times when you feel you can just stay there and fade away and there are times when you feel you can run right back and undo what has been done.

Faith is all you need. This is when you need to trust prayer and the power of it.

Look at tomorrow as a new day that is full of possibilities and opportunities. Nothing is more powerful than the power of prayer and determination. If you do not see yourself as worthy, make yourself worthy. Educate yourself, transform yourself and hold on to your values and faith.

Belief in yourself can make you do wonders. There are many of us who are struggling, only we know our struggles, our anxieties, our hopes and our dreams. Remember that everything is in God’s hands and nothing will happen before its time.

I remember passing through Brasso and seeing a huge mass of land that was burnt. The earth was black and everything looked so desolate. It was sad passing there until I saw some tiny green plants pushing up and those plants were growing, and soon enough they will become beautiful trees. In the same way we may look at our lives as burnt and empty but with a little hope it will some day flourish.

In the country there are many seasons. We have portugal season, orange season, mango season (this is also fly season because the mangoes encourage the flies to come around). So too in life there are many seasons. Presently, you may be going through a seriously rough patch but you must remember that this too you will pass. After each season, be it an unfortunate one or a wonderful one, you must be able to muster all your strength and courage and prepare yourself for the upcoming season.

Life is a huge struggle and we must all be able to, at some point, find the strength to start over.

In life we may face many storms and all we need is determination. Some of us may be in an abusive relationship or in a relationship with an insensitive, uncaring partner, some may be dependent on drugs and some may have just gotten out of the one relationship that we really wanted work out for us but it didn’t. This is when we must struggle to think positive. What if it did work out? What type of partner would that person be? Who knows, he might have been abusive. Thank God for what he has done and if it’s because of infidelity, I say forget that fool. If he did not see what he had then it is his lost, not yours!

I know starting your life over can be frustrating and depressing in itself, but think about it, we are wiser now and we have learnt a lot from our experiences. This way we are at a great advantage because we know now what mistakes we should not make. Do not look at starting life over as a task but look at it as an opportunity to make ourselves happy!

A very true friend once gave me some good advice that I must share with you. She said: "When you pray for something, just pray about it and let it rest. Don’t worry about it. Worrying only shows that you do not trust in God and the power of prayer."

So when you are starting over do so with a positive attitude and don’t do it because you have to, but because you want to.
