Millenium Reign, Mucho Tempo clash

TURFITES are faced with a match-up of derby winners in today’s feature Restricted Handicap, when Millenium Reign and Mucho Tempo Clash.

Despite the small fields and only nine races, the Arima Race Club Day 33 programme appears to be quite competitive.

In the feature over 1600 metres on the turf course, Mucho Tempo who achieved the Triple Crown only last year and Millenium Reign are the pick of the eight-horse field.

But Uram has been in consistent form and despite his 58.5 kilos burden, must be respected.

Not much can be said of the others form-wise.

Another crop of two-year-old "babes" make their debut in the day’s opening event over 1100 metres, although just one, Apocalypse had two races under his belt.

A lot has been heard of the John O’Brien owned and trained Sky High, but both Magnificat and Roadrunner, another from the O’Brien barn, have been going quite well at gallops.

And if breeding is not to be discounted, then the Still Alert/Genset colt Va-Va-Voom must have a semblance of a chance.

Turfites could well recoup their losses on the so far disappointing Pave The Way in the 1200 metres optional claimer. This Freshly Squeezed/Smoot-hawn colt has been dropped to the "optional" tag since failing to past the post in front since January.

But Island Runner and Born To Charm are the ones most likely to deny him.
