Beenhakker happy for Theobald

TRINIDAD and Tobago football team coach Leo Beenhakker has congratulated midfielder Densill Theobald on completing his signing with Scottish Premiership club Falkirk FC.

This is the latest accolade for the Caledonia AIA Fire player who is currently in Scotland.

Beenhakker returned to Trinidad and Tobago on Monday evening mainly to take a last look at the local and the US based Under-21 players who were recently involved in a training camp under Technical Director Lincoln Phillips.

"I am very happy for Densill, it’s a great opportunity for a player from these parts to play overseas, I think it’s really great for the lad. He will have an opportunity to play against some top quality opposition and gain some much needed experience in his career," Beenhakker said.

"The fact is that he is only 23-years-old, so it’s even better for him to get into the European system and establish himself. I sincerely wish him all the best and I hope he will make the most of it, work hard and realise his dreams," added Beenhakker.

Theobald established himself as one of the better midfielders in the TT Pro League, representing the Jamal Shabbazz coached Caledonia AIA Fire over the last couple of years.

He left for Scotland last weekend where he will link up with national teammate and Falkirk’s Player/Coach Russel Latapy. Latapy along with Beenhakker were instrumental in helping Theobald get his work permit approved to make his dream a reality.

"It makes no difference to me where he plays professionally. I will manage him on the national team, the same way I manage the rest of the overseas based players. The good thing is that I know when he is with the club. He is working and training week in week out so it’s great,"Beenhakker said.
