2 shot, no arrests
TWO men have been shot at different locations and are now resting comfortably at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. In the first incident at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, Winston Morgan, 25, of Gonzales Road, Belmont, was speaking to his friend Dianne Peters in front her home at Sammy Lane, Bourg Mulatress when they observed two men they did not know walking up to them. On reaching one of the men shouted, “what yuh have” while at the same time the other man pulled a firearm from his pocket. A frightened Morgan ran off in an easterly direction but was chased by the men who caught him. The men began to beat him and he retaliated.
The gunman then fired one shot to Morgan’s left leg before calmly walking away. The bleeding man was rushed by a passerby to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded with a compound fracture. Cpl Kitson of the Morvant Police is investigating. In the second shooting, around 8.40 am yesterday, Terry Simon, 25, of Superville Quarry, Petit Valley was sitting opposite the Valley Harps panyard when a lone gunman walked up to him and fired several shots hitting him in his groin, right thigh and left ankle. The bleeding man was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded. Sgt Duncan is spearheading enquiries.
