Coke, guns, ammo seized in Cedros

OFFICERS from South-Western Division in collaboration with the Anti-Crime Unit headed by Brigadier Peter Joseph, reportedly discovered 10 kilos of cocaine, three handguns and a quantity of ammunition buried in the sand on Los Gallos beach, Galfa Point in Cedros yesterday. The party of officers led by Insp Wells, ag Sgt De Peza and Cpl Oliver acted on an anonymous telephone tip and went to the beach where, after digging in the sand, they discovered the illegal items.

At around 9.30 am, the officers found ten kilos of cocaine, a .38 revolver, a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and a smaller calibre pistol and over one hundred rounds of ammunition. The officers later returned to the beach in search of more illegal items, but found nothing. When Newsday visited the Cedros Police Station, the officers were reluctant to disclose any information and ordered Newsday to leave the station. The apparently annoyed police officers claimed that the situation was a delicate one and they did not want the media to know about it. Investigations are continuing.
