27 students to sit O-Level Computing Services exam in Nov
The Education Ministry yesterday announced the 27 students who were not allowed to write the Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level Examination in Computing Services at the Chaguanas Prestige Secondary School on May 25, would sit the exam in November, at no additional cost to themselves. In a release from the ministry, it was stated that some students had been registered to write both the Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level Examination in Computing Services, and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination in Principles of Accounts Paper 2, beginning at 9 am on the same day.
The principal informed the ministry he had proposed to allow the students to write the CSEC Principles of Accounts Paper 2 first, and then conduct the Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level Exams in Computing Studies. The Ministry said they had been informed the Computing Studies exam was rescheduled to begin 6 am, and that the principal had agreed to inform students of the rescheduled times to accommodate the timetable clash. Unfortunately, only 21 students had arrived for the examination by 6.30 am. The supervisor assigned reported the other students turned up after the exam in Computing Studies were completed, and that she was unable to allow them to write the exam. The ministry said they would be making arrangements with the University of Cambridge for the administration of the examination in Computing Studies in November, at no cost to the students.
