Bakr inquiry put off to June 4
THE preliminary inquiry into a conspiracy to murder charge laid against Jamaat Al Muslimeen leader Yasin Abu Bakr was put off to June 4 because the defence was unable to call its witness yesterday. Defence attorney Pamela Elder SC told the court she was unable to lead evidence and asked for time to call a witness who is employed with TSTT. Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Carla Brown-Antoine, who is prosecuting, had no objections. Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc nicolls, sitting in the Port-of-Spain Fourth Magistrates’ Court, then adjourned the inquiry to June 4. Bakr, 63, is charged with conspiring with others at Citrine Drive, Diamond Vale, Diego Martin, on June 4, 2003, to murder expelled Jamaat members Salim Rasheed and Zaki Aubaidah.
