Order to stop Soca shows withdrawn

AN INJUNCTION sought by COTT to stop the Soca Retromania III shows was yesterday withdrawn when the matter came up before Justice Gregory Smith at the Port-of-Spain Civil Chambers. The injunction was sought on Thursday by attorneys MG Daly and Partners to prevent the two shows from coming off.  The shows, organised by Spektakula Promotions Ltd, are scheduled for tonight at the Queen’s Park Savannah and tomorrow night at Skinner’s Park in San Fernando.  Several top soca artistes, including the Mighty Sparrow, Calypso Rose and Swallow are carded to perform.

Originally, tonight’s show was scheduled for the Jean Pierre Complex, but due to numerous requests from the public, the show has been shifted to the Queen’s Park Savannah. COTT’s attorneys, Elton Prescot and Lisa Solomon, yesterday withdrew the injunction filed against the Port-of-Spain show and both parties agreed that relative to a consent order, the San Fernando show would also go on. According to the order, Spektakula Promotions has agreed to pay COTT the sum equivalent to 4.5 percent of the total gate receipts of the San Fernando show.  The payments are due on or before June 7. Spektakula Promotions was represented by attorney Keith Scotland.
