Woman stabbed, man drinks poison

A 24-year-old man reportedly ingested a poisonous substance after stabbing a close female relative. According to reports, the man dealt his girlfriend, Cheryl Ann Constan-tine a stab wound to the back after the two reportedly had a heated argument.

Reports state that Constantine was at the Golf Course clubhouse in Chaguaramas at about 5.30 pm on Friday, when her male friend approached her from behind and dealt her a single stab to the back. Reports state that the woman, of Upper Big Yard, Carenage, collapsed while her attacker ran off a short distance and drank a poisonous liquid. Estate Police officers were alerted, and rushed the two to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Checks with hospital officials yesterday revealed that the man is warded in a stable condition at the hospital, however he remains under police guard. Carenage police are continuing investigations.
