Guns, ammo, drugs, bush rum seized in raid

Two guns, ammo, a quantity of drugs and bush rum were seized during an exercise carried out on Thursday by officers of the Central Division, in which 25 persons were arrested. The exercise, which started at 3 am on Thursday, was led by Supt Correia, Insp Crime Burt Raphael, Sgts Lumy and Sylvester, and acting Sgts Ajith Persad, Danny Ramlogan and Hayden Mckenzie. Reports revealed that officers executed a search warrant on a car at Mon Plasir Road in Cunupia and seized a .25 Raven pistol. Three members of a family ages 32, 24 and 20 were arrested and charged with firearm offences.


In Enterprise, ten persons were held for narcotic offences while at Perseverance Village in Chaguanas, a .385 revolver with two rounds of ammunition was seized. A 28-year-old man was held. Officers also seized a quantity of bush rum at Couva and arrested a 37-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man. Another man was held for having sex with a minor while others were held on outstanding warrants. Several drug dens were raided and a quantity of marijuana and cocaine seized. Those arrested appeared before a Chaguanas magistrate yesterday. The exercise on Thursday formed part of the anti-crime initiative.
