Two helicopters to track gun-runners

Two new high-tech helicopters purchased by Government are now being used to patrol the coastlines of the country to detect and intercept gun runners. This was revealed by Minister of National Security Senator Martin Joseph during his address to the nation on Monday night. The Minister said the helicopter patrols would give law enforcement officers the ability to respond to the surveillance provided by the long-range radar equipment recently acquired.

“Our coastline must be in the frontline in the battle against the illegal gun trade,” said Minister Joseph. He also revealed that greater coordination between the law enforcement agencies and Customs will detect and destroy the illegal trade in guns and ammunition now being shipped in containers. “We are prepared to make the tough decisions necessary to deal with tough times, and this will remain our focus until the job is done. “With fewer guns on the streets, cities and towns, citizens are less likely to get shot or murdered,” he said.
