Ag CoP: Operation Anaconda lives
ACTING Commissioner of Police, Trevor Paul, has said that Operation Anaconda never went to sleep but has become integrated into several other police operations which continue to yield successes against the criminal element. Speaking at a public forum at the Maha Sabha headquarters in St Augustine on Wednesday, Paul said Anaconda “appeared to have failed” because it was no longer visible to the public but it had never gone to sleep. The Ag CoP said sustainability was key to the success of any police anti-crime initiative and this was the primary emphasis in all of the police’s ongoing operations.
“It is not a question of the police not performing,” he declared. In response to questions from the audience, Paul said no police force anywhere in the world could ever hope to have all the resources it needs to fight crime. Also present at Wednesday’s forum were TT Defence Force Chief of Staff, Brigadier Ancil Antoine and Special Anti-Crime Unit of TT Director Brigadier Peter Joseph.
