4 guards charged with kidnapping

Four security guards attached to Piarco Air Services appeared before a Tunapuna magistrate yesterday charged with kidnapping and robbing a 20-year-old man from South Trinidad. Appearing before Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes in the Tunapuna First Court were Dave Oliver, 34, of Maracas, St Joseph; Cuthbert Jeremie, 41; David Wiltshire, 36; and Curtis James, 38, all of Arima. The four are charged with kidnapping Rishi Seecharan at Piarco International Airport on June 23. The men are also charged with robbing Seecharan of $28,000 worth of gold as well as demanding $8,000 by menace. Oliver and Jeremie were jointly charged with obtaining $400 by false pretences. As the men stood before Ramoo-Haynes, the charges were read to them, but they were not called on to plead. All four men were represented by attorneys and were each granted bail by a Justice of the Peace over the weekend in the sum of $710,000.
