Still no word on kidnapped boy
OFFICERS of the Anti Kidnapping Squad (AKS) reportedly released three of the six suspects held for questioning in connection with the kidnapping of ten-year-old Vijay Persad, for whose safe release a ransom demand of $500,000 has been made. Newsday understands two women, aged 20 and 40 and the 40-year-old woman’s 19-year-old son, all from Moruga, were released after they were taken into custody at AKS offices in Port-of-Spain for questioning Sunday. Newsday also understands three other persons who were held in connection with the kidnapping are still assisting police with their investigations. Meanwhile, police are continuing their search — both aerial and ground — for Vijay who was kidnapped eight days ago after his father, Rajkummar Persad, refused to allow three bandits into his shop at Moruga Road, Indian Walk, Princes Town. ASP Joseph Nathaniel is continuing investigations.
