Parliament closure for two months

Parliament is to meet to debate the Caroni Vesting Bill before taking a long recess. Sources said the Parliament is to shut down for two months to allow renovation on the roof to be completed. Sources said the temporary roof and scaffolding are to be moved from the non-Parliament side of the building to the Parliament side. This is expected to take two months. Sources said this process has to be finished in time for the presentation of the Budget in September. Parliament was adjourned to a date to be fixed when debate on the Police Reform Bills was completed early Friday morning. There will be no Parliament next week because several ministers — including Prime Minister Patrick Manning and leader of Government business, Ken Valley will be out of the country attending a Caricom meeting in Grenada. But it is expected to meet on July 16 to debate the Caroni Vesting Bill, before taking the break.
