Senior TSTT staff suffering, says CWU

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) will be hosting a press conference at 10 am this morning at its headquarters on Henry Street to highlight the woes with which its senior staff is faced. According to the CWU, the press conference has become necessary in the face of TSTT’s refusal and/or reneging on the agreement arrived at during the negotiations for its senior staff employees for the period 2000 to 2002 and the year 2003.

The Union said that on July 2, the CWU reached an agreement with TSTT on salaries and 99 percent of other related costs. However, according to the Union, TSTT has reneged on the agreement and has refused to sign the terms of settlement for its senior staff which means that it will continue to pay these employees at the 1999 rates while junior staff members are being paid at 2003 rates. In addition, the CWU will be holding a meeting on Wednesday for all former TEXTEL workers to discuss the ongoing issue of the TEXTEL pension plan fund.
