Women charged with cell phone theft
TWO FEMALE employees of a cellular phone and accessories store appeared before a San Fernando magistrate yesterday charged with stealing nearly $15,000 worth of cellular phones and other items. Nalini Singh, 32, of Coconut Drive, Cross Crossing, San Fernando and Candace Lochan, 20, of Churkoo Village, Princes Town, pleaded not guilty before deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court. Singh and Lochan were charged last Saturday with larceny by PC Kevin Neptune of San Fernando CID.
The two women were employed by Rabindranath Maharaj, director of R and J Cell Tech in Gulf City Shopping Complex. On July 10, Maharaj reported to the police that six cell phones valued $14,999 were missing from his store. PC Neptune investigated and three of the missing phones were recovered. After pleading not-guilty, the two women were granted $20,000 bail each and the matter was adjourned to October 15.
