Couple shot at home

A MORUGA couple was shot and robbed while watching television at their home on Sunday night. According to police reports, Kenny Rojas, 44, and his common-law wife Sheriffa Mohammed, 45, were watching television at their Toppin Road, St Mary’s, Moruga home around 7.30 pm when they heard a loud noise.

Three men, two of whom were masked, reportedly broke down the front door and stormed into the house. As Rojas reached for his wife in an attempt to escape, one of the suspects shot him in his right leg and shot Mohammed in the foot. The couple reportedly ran out of the house to the nearby home of one of Rojas’ uncles, Henry Weeks, 65, but the men followed. The bandits broke down the front door of Weeks’ home and subsequently robbed him of $1,000 worth of jewelry and $2,500 in cash. The couple was treated at hospital and discharged. Moruga police told Newsday they believe the incident was drug-related and are continuing investigations.
