Woman shot in robbery attempt

A young woman who tried to fight off a bandit who accosted her in broad daylight yesterday was shot on her arm. Corice Alleyne, 23, underwent emergency surgery after the bullet entered her chest and is warded in a satisfactory condition at the San Fernando General Hospital. Police reports said around 10.30 am, Alleyne was standing at the corner of Ramdass and Maharaj Streets in Marabella, when she was accosted by a gunman. The man announced a hold-up and the woman retaliated. During the brief struggle, the gun went off and Alleyne was hit in the arm. The gunman ran off. Police are yet to arrest the suspect. Cpl Parson of the Marabella Police Station is continuing investigations.
