3 held with gun and $2.5M in weed
ACTING on information, St Joseph police visited three homes between Thursday night and yesterday morning in the Curepe and Maracas Valley areas and arrested three men in separate incidents. They seized a gun, ammunition and ten kilos of compressed marijuana valued at $2.5 million. According to reports, the cops went to a house at Belle Smythe Street in Curepe, where they arrested a man with a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver and six rounds of ammunition. The team then went to Acono Road, Maracas where they arrested the relative of a well-known Curepe “Doubles” vendor with 8.5 kilos of compressed marijuana valued at $2 million.
They then went to another house at La Seiva, Maracas, St Joseph, where they arrested another man with 1.5 kilos of compressed marijuana valued at $500,000. Three men, Dion Joseph, 22, Shazard Manic, 19 and Marc Serello, 46, yesterday appeared before Tunapuna Magistrate Indira Ramoo-Hayes charged with possession of arms and marijuana for trafficking. All three were denied bail and remanded in custody until July 30. Visiting the scene were acting Insp Modeste, Sgt Daniel, acting Cpl Hobbs and PCs Groomes and Gopaul.
