Kidnap victim’s dad: Ransom paid

JAWAHIR DEOSARAN, father of kidnap victim Rodney Deosaran of Carapichaima, claimed that he paid a ransom for the release of his son four days ago and “up to this day he has not yet been released.” He would not disclose the amount paid. Rodney was kidnapped in the presence of his family some four weeks ago and a ransom of $7 million was demanded for his safe release. His father, the head of Amalgamated Sanitation Company Ltd, told Newsday that a ransom was paid but his son had not been set free. Jawahir  Deosaran said: “I am  a taxpayer like anybody else in the country and I feel strongly that Government should help me by the use of the $61  million spying equipment they have received from  Israel.”

He did not reveal where the money was paid and who received the money and how the transaction was done, preferring to keep all those details to himself but said, “I am anxious to have my son sent back to his family. “What next must I do to have this traumatic affair come to an end? Must I pack up and leave the country?  I have no more money to pay for his release,” he added. He is telling the kidnappers, “Drop off my son anywhere for me please as his family needs him to survive.”
